THE GEORGE ZIMMERMAN VERDICT - WHO REALLY WON THIS CASE?

Picture
We watched this case intently from the beginning.  Everyone had an opinion on what they thought happened that night between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin.  After months of watching all of the news shows and hearing all of the evidence, the verdict has now been revealed. George Zimmerman is NOT GUILTY. There are some who feel that this was a fair verdict because George Zimmerman should never have been charged.  There are others that feel Trayvon Martin was an unarmed teenager that was killed walking home from the store and profiled to be a black teenager looking to burglarize someone. So now that the verdict is known what is the message we can all take with us and who really won this case?

If you are a George Zimmerman supporter, you are ecstatic because in your opinion justice has been served. Your feeling is that Mr. Zimmerman was an innocent man that was railroaded and charged with Trayvon Martin’s murder. If you are a Trayvon Martin supporter, it is a sad day indeed. This verdict confirms the injustice of our judicial system. You feel that black people are never treated fairly in our judicial system and now this verdict gives people permission to shoot and kill black people with no threat of punishment.

This case involved two of the most passionate issues we have in this country, guns and race. The fact that George Zimmerman was walking around with a loaded gun truly disturbed some people. Most people agree that Mr. Zimmerman had a right to carry gun, but it was difficult to understand that he was not the aggressor when he was armed and Travon was not. One good question to consider is would George Zimmerman have ever gotten out his truck if he wasn’t armed with a gun? I would say probably not. If he didn’t have that gun he would have sat in his truck and waited for the Police to arrive. The gun gave him the courage to confront Trayvon which ultimately led to Trayvon’s death. The issue of race was brought into this case because many believe that Trayvon was profiled and followed because he was Black. This is very believable for those in the black community because they have been targeted and punished unfairly for many years. I think with the election of President Obama, many believed that racism in this country was beginning to be a thing of the past, but this case has made many people question how far we really have come.

So who really won in this case? It certainly is not Trayvon Martin’s family and supporters because Trayvon is dead and no one will be charged with his murder and that is a hard pill to swallow. A seventeen year old kid is shot in the heart on his way back from the store for no reason other than George Zimmerman thought Trayvon was up to no good, and felt he should confront Trayvon instead of waiting for law enforcement. Although the verdict was in George Zimmerman’s favor, he is a loser in this verdict also because Mr. Zimmerman will never have peace. He will always have to look over his shoulder and be fearful of someone out to take revenge upon him. That is an awful way to spend the rest of your life. Where will he live? This case was shown all over the world, so where will he really be safe? I guess the real winners in all of this are the defense team. The lawyers on the defense team are now household names and will be forever known as the winners in one of the biggest cases in U.S. history.

I guess if one positive thing came from this case it is that people became more educated about our judicial system and how it works because they followed this case and watched the trial. Hopefully, we all have learned something from this case and going forward we need to work on the issues that divide our country so that we never have another Trayvon Martin case.

Its breath taking, It saddens me to that this country continues to be a comillian you never know what your gonna get. Justice for all, really! A dog trial with Michael Vick got as much publicity and a conviction, a teenager dead by a volunteer cop with orders to stand down gets NO conviction and a pat on the back.

Is this really a Great country?

I appreciate the fact you tried to stay neutral. Racial Profiling exist in many people and it's sad to see a person profiled without knowing the person more in depth. Race may or may not have been an issue after the initial suspicion. It's just unfair to be viewed as suspicious just because a person is presented a particular way in an environment. Outside the 911 call, Trayvon's phone records, etc. we don't have much to go on except G. Zimmerman side of the story even though his story can sound outrages to many, Trayvon or other witnesses aren't presented to give their side of the story. There can be advantages and disadvantages of stereotyping, but this case is an example why stereotyping can definitely play out negatively.

It is such a sad day fot the Martin family. It breaks my heart that this man gets away. But honostly, Im not surprised. The defense did a good job. Let this also be a lesson to young men and women that they are not invincible. I am sure Trayvon felt the need to confront Zimmerman for following him, not thinking this "creepy cracker" going to kill him. What Zimmerman did was so wrong in everyway, but atleast, like you said,he will never have peace. He will have to live with this for the rest of his pathetic life.

Who really won this case? Your right the defense team. All I can say I went to bed with Trayvon on my mind and I opened my eyes with him in my heart. All we can do is Trust & have Faith in God. Not the judicial court system. My deepest prayers goes out to Mr. & Mrs. Martins during these difficult times.

There are no winners in this case. Zimmerman may not be behind bars but he will forever have the need to look over his shoulder. Zimmetman made the choice to get out his truck had he not gotten out of his truck we would not be having this dialogue. My deepest sympathy to the Martin Family. Your son's death was not in vain.

I am sorry for the Martin families loss. I am also sorry for all mothers and fathers that lose their son's and daughters to crime in whatever fashion it comes. Whether it comes from suicide bombers, war, urban or sub-urban crime.
Who won? The media once again. The media leads everyone around by our noses. They tell us when to care, who we should care for. Trayvon's parents have lost their "baby" but so have thousands of mothers each and everyday around the world. Black, white, yellow, brown mother's around the world losing children each and everyday. Why did the media just focus on this one case? Chicago mother's just to choose one place as an example are losing children by the hundreds each month. I even lost a very dear family member due to the Chicago crime.
The racism in this country and around the world has to be addressed. It cannot and must not be left up to the media, nor the court system which is nothing but another business entity. It also must not be left up to the so called gate keepers of all ethnic groups. Like your Jackson's and Sharptons. Whatever ethnic group you belong to you know whom your gate keepers are. It ( The Court system ) also is designed to work in one direction money flows into the Judges and Lawyers pockets all the while blacks as the 13th Amendment states return to slavery via conviction of a crime.
Everyday people must begin to talk to each other about our differences. As long as we listen to the media for our information, then nothing changes because they make money off of FEAR and disasters.

No Justice. No Peace. that is certainly the sentiment of majority of Americans today. My prayer is that Trayvon Martin's death is not in vain and that some good comes from this. If Zimmermen is truly innocent may God be with him because emotions are running high. I am sure this story will be talked about for a long time to come.

The facts as I see them. Young Martin, and George Zimmerman were both victims in this tragedy. Mr. Zimmerman acted within the framework of the law that was given him . The law states that he does not have to identify himself, He has the right to be a perfect stranger as he did that night., He's within the boundaries of the law to follow anyone he pleases no matter what their age, at any time of night that he pleases, as long as he please.
So what are the options, for the teenager, first run? Then hide? If he finds you, What are your options Legally?(Could it be stand your aground?)
Zimmerman would not give his address to the 911 operators, nor did the young man take the stranger to his home, I think both were wise.
In my opinion, basically this is where the case begins and ends. Because the outcome from this point forward is unpredictable, Unless, one person has a gun, Or if you have an experienced 17-year-old, who has not dealt with these Type of issues enough times in his life to get it right, when it's a matter of life and death.
The way I see it both of them worked within the framework of the law, the results, one is dead, and the other ones life is ruined . But they both worked within the framework of the law.
This is an issue about justice isn't , which not only alludes Floridians, it also alludes all of mankind everywhere on the surface of the earth, This issue of justice is being fought everywhere on the globe as we speak. Our laws are flawed because Mankind is flawed.

I have two forms of advice: one do not argue with someone that is not from your culture or background because they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
The second is this:
it is good to keep in mind that true justice in this system of things can be elusive. In fact, many have spent a lifetime seeking it, only to be consumed with bitterness and resentment when their expectations were not realized.
Satan would like nothing better than to see people torn apart by vengeance and hate. (1 John 3:7, 8) Far better it is to keep in mind these words from the Bible: “Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: ‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says Jehovah.’” (Romans 12:19) By leaving matters in Jehovah’s hands, we free ourselves from much pain, rage, and violence.—Proverbs 3:3-6..
